Dear Finance and Treasury Association members and friends,
Working on the 2015 FTA Congress has been a big part of my year. So let me share with you why I consider the FTA Congress remains Australia’s premier annual event for Treasurers and financial risk management professionals …
For technical content, professional networking, and career inspiration this program can’t be beat. … Further, I would argue that we have the strongest speaker group ever!
In 2015, our plenary speakers include current and former ASX100 CEOs, a former Ambassador, a Professor, global and local economists and senior non-executive directors.
And our technical session speakers include the head of a major technology start up, the CEO of Australia’s New Payments Platform, plus multiple CFOs, and many more senior Corporate Treasurers.
The 28th Annual FTA Congress in Melbourne October 28th to 30th is themed
“Progressive Treasury – Adding Value in the Business”, and will feature a corporate treasury case study in every session.
Delegates will hear from leading economists why structural change continues to override the traditional economic cycle, and then hear from treasurers how they are actively meeting the challenge to transform treasury practice, process and organisation.
Technical sessions will feature a series of detailed presentations from treasurers on how they add value in cash, risk and working capital management by working alongside colleagues in the business. Other treasurers will show how they are using new technologies, accessing new funding sources, and engaging in Asia with new customers and investors.
In plenary sessions, we will hear unique perspectives on rebuilding business confidence in the Australian political process (from John Brogden AM, CEO of AICD), and the risks to the financial system, and the future of financial intermediation (with Prof Kevin Davis FFTP). In breakout, delegates may choose to drill down into setting weighted average cost of capital (WACC), corporate hedging practice, or the pipeline of regulatory change … among many other mission-critical topics.
Two of our leading speakers are former corporate treasurers who have forged successful careers as ASX 50 CFOs and now as CEOs. Peter Gregg FFTP, CEO, Primary Health Care and Mark Hooper FFTP, CEO Sigma Pharmaceuticals who will share how they achieved career success and how they use a treasurer’s perspective in addressing the challenges they face in the C-Suite. There is also session devoted to Career Development in Treasuryfeaturing an ASX 100 CFO (Andrew Coles CFTP Snr of Oz Minerals) promoted due to his strong performance leading M&A as the company’s inaugural treasurer.
- Do you need to understand risks and opportunities from China better? Then my advice is to plan attend the Friday October 30th lunch with Dr Geoff Raby, international strategy consultant, former Australian Ambassador to China, and now non-executive director of five significant Australian resource and technology companies.
- Need to understand how treasury, and most businesses are being disrupted by new payments technologies? Then you will want to attend the unique session developed by Tim Hart CFTP of InFact Consulting, and Cale Bennett CFTP of Tatts Group. …We have secured as speakers Dilip Rao, Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Ripple Labs and Paul Lahiff, Chairman New Payments Platform (NPP).
- Wish to hear how Australian business benefits from International Accounting Standards? Former Financial Reporting Council chair and current IFRS Foundation member Lynn Wood is a long time company director who will explain how IFRS is Facilitating better investor and business decision-making.
As usual, all delegates have the choice of three-streams across two days… and, buy-side delegates will be privy to even more as part of two closed treasurer sessions book-ending the Congress on the opening Wednesday and closing Friday respectively.
Most importantly, all delegates can take advantage of the valuable networking opportunitiesthat FTA Congress always provides via our Welcome Reception, the NAB FTA Gala Dinner (with champion jockey Glenn Boss), the FTA Congress Breakfast, the FTA AGM, and of course lunch and tea breaks in our extensive exhibition area.
Trusting I will see you in Melbourne in October for the 2015 FTA Congress!
