You are invited to join us for our first National Networking Event to be held on Wednesday 16th September from 5pm AEST.
The event will include a virtual panel discussion, moderated by Luke Derham (NSW Chapter Chair) with our guest panelists speaking to the emerging economic risks we currently face in Treasury and the greater Australian economy, addressing the following topics within a risk management/strategic lens:
- COVID risk management in corporate treasury – planning and managing short and long term liquidity, raising capital and restructuring opportunities, evaluating refinancing options, and assessing value in the restructuring of hedge portfolios, and the importance of risk committees in the face of growing uncertainty;
- Risks and opportunities in low-interest-rate markets – including reduced credit spreads and how this is impacting both borrower and investor mentality, combined impacts of low-interest-rate environment and higher macroeconomic risk factors, the current progress and best practice in transitioning away from LIBOR, and the future impact of alternative RFRs and BBSW’s role going forward;
- COVID risk to Australian SME’s and Australia’s wider economy– strategies are undertaken by those businesses who do not have the large capital levers available that listed companies do and how they need to respond differently, support of fiscal stimulus to Australian businesses and the impact of discontinuation, importance of getting the core elements right to survive and succeed;
- Wider macroeconomic topics including monetary policy, credit risk, and the US election are expected to be drawn into the question feed from the live audience.
The panel discussion will be followed by a virtual networking event, utilizing the networking software to be used at the 2020 FTA Conference in November; enabling all attendees to meet and greet with FTA Members from all across Australia.
