Meet the Board
Mike Christensen is the Managing Director of Truro Partners, a business consultancy and coaching service providing finance and treasury advisory services and business coaching.
Mike created Truro Partners after a 25-year finance and treasury career, including 16 years working in the property sector for top 50 ASX listed property trusts such as DEXUS Property Group and Westfield in the UK, USA and Australia.
Mike’s last executive role was General Manager, Group Treasury for DEXUS. His other roles at DEXUS included Head of Finance Transformation and Head of Strategic Planning.
Mike’s a qualified and experienced company director. He’s Chair of the Finance and Treasury Association (FTA), and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD). He’s also a member of the Loreto Kirribilli Finance and Risk Committee.
Mike holds a Masters in Applied Finance from Macquarie University and a Bachelor of Economics from QUT.
Nell has been a member of the FTA since 2003 and has regularly presented at the FTA Forums. Nell is currently a business owner and undertakes consultancy work on financial matters and strategic planning. Prior to this, Nell worked as Director of Finance of Tasmania Medicare Local and established their new financial systems and procurement practices. Nell was responsible for the Treasury Group at Aurora Energy Pty Ltd for 12 years and managed the Weighted Average Cost of Capital regulatory requirements.
Prior to joining Aurora, Nell has held senior management positions at Tasmanian State Treasury and corporate banking positions.
Biki has been a member of the FTA since 1999 and was accorded a fellowship in 2008. Biki was the Corporate Treasurer of HomeStart Finance for over 17 years and was responsible for all aspects of their funding and financial risk management. She was also responsible for the management of an investment portfolio used by HomeStart as an in-house alternative to mortgage insurance.
Prior to this Biki held various Accounting roles. Biki studied with the Securities Institute of Australia and has yet to complete her Masters of Applied Finance with Macquarie University.
Biki has recently commenced a new role at Credit Union SA, as Manager Treasury.
Lee Trewartha joined Fortescue Metals Group as Treasury Manager in 2013, where he manages a team principally responsible for Treasury operations and financial risk management. Prior to joining Fortescue, Lee was employed in finance and corporate treasury roles at BHP, QBE Insurance, Genworth Financial, CITIC Pacific and Ausdrill Mining.
Lee has 15 years experience in Corporate Treasury and is a Fellow of CPA Australia, an Associate Member of the ACT and has been a member of the Finance and Treasury Association since 2011.
Fulvio Barbuio is a Non-Executive Board Director of the Finance and Treasury Association (FTA) and has held this position since October 2014 (and was previously a member of the FTA’s National Technical Committee). He also serves on the Board’s Finance, Risk and Audit Committee and is Chair of the Remuneration and Nomination Committee. In relation to his corporate career most recently Fulvio held the role of Head Corporate Treasury & Risk with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation from April 2015 to May 2018 having responsibility for corporate treasury, enterprise risk management and insurance. He has previously held the ABC positions of Head Corporate Treasury & Performance Measurement, Head Finance and Manager Corporate Treasury. Prior to the ABC, Fulvio worked in senior analyst and management positions covering treasury, planning and strategy variously across the mining, energy, information technology, utilities and media and broadcasting industries.
His career spans over 30 years including over 20 years in treasury roles in the private and public sector dealing with risk, liquidity, funding, investments, treasury governance reporting, enterprise risk management and insurance. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (with Honours) majoring in Accounting and Finance and is a FFTP of the FTA, a FCPA of CPA Australia, a MAICD of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a member of the Director Institute.
Clive Richards is an experienced senior finance and treasury executive with over 30 years treasury risk management experience from both a banking and corporate perspective.
Clive is currently a director of Taurus Risk Solutions and a senior consultant at ITAS.
Both roles are with independent treasury and finance risk advisory firms which provide advice to a number of corporate clients in the QLD market.
Clive was previously employed at ANZ as an Associate Director, Global Markets for over 8 years. Clive advised a large number of Institutional and Corporate clients across a diverse range of industries including Natural Resources, Agriculture, Utilities, Infrastructure, Consumer Services and Government. This role covered foreign exchange, interest rate and commodity risk management solutions.
Clive also worked for Citigroup in Sydney and London for 12 years in various financial market roles. Previous to banking, Clive worked for 10 years at MIM Holdings (now part of Xstrata/Glencore).At MIM, he held various treasury roles including money market, foreign exchange & interest rate risk management, financial analysis, corporate finance, business acquisitions, systems development, and accounting.
Steven is a Partner at Deloitte Australia, and leads their Treasury and Capital Markets division.
Steven has over 17 years professional services experience focused on auditing and advising financial institutions and corporate treasuries across Australia and the UK.
Steven is an FFTP and has been a member of the FTA since 2009. He Chaired the Technical Committee of the FTA from 2011 to 2017.
Sarah Scopel’s finance and strategy experience spans across the advisory and corporate sectors. Sarah is the Assistant Treasurer of Caltex Australia Limited, a top 50 ASX listed company. Prior to joining Caltex, Sarah held roles in Macquarie Bank’s Investment Banking division, lead the treasury team at Origin Energy Limited and also held roles in Origin’s corporate finance and strategy groups.
Sarah is also a member of the Asset and Investment Committees of Scouts NSW and member of the Nominations Advisory Committee of Bond University Limited.
Sarah is graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD) and is a Chartered Accountant. Sarah holds an MBA (Executive) from the Australian Graduate School of Management (UNSW), Bachelor Degrees in Finance and Commerce from Bond University and a a diploma in Business Strategy & Financial Acumen through the INSEAD online programme.
